Watch Cub

Know where
the boundary is.

Controlled

Approved YouTube videos play inside Watch Cub. The player returns to the shelf when it reports the end. A Return button is always available. YouTube still controls the contents and links inside its embedded player.

Launch-only

Other services open in a separate tab. They control what happens there, including recommendations, navigation, and sign-in. Watch Cub cannot close or lock those services.

Shelves with opening hours

Each child can have different shelves for different days and times. Watch Cub checks the schedule on its server. In-app videos return when their shelf closes; external provider tabs remain outside Watch Cub’s control. Times use the timezone chosen for that shelf. When daylight saving repeats an hour, the first occurrence of each boundary is used. A skipped clock time moves to the next real minute.

Finding picks

Choose your services and country, then search for a title. Availability can change and may differ by plan. Rental, purchase and extra-channel offers are excluded from subscription search. A parent still decides which results belong on each shelf. Selecting a service does not connect your streaming account.

Channels and playlists

Approving a whole YouTube channel or playlist includes its current and future public playable videos. Only choose sources you trust. Children browse those videos inside Watch Cub, 50 at a time, without open-ended search or automatic next-video playback. The collection and each video follow the selected shelf’s schedule. Public videos and membership may take up to an hour to refresh; private videos are excluded.

Keeping lookups available

Streaming title searches share a seven-day cache, and the service list is kept for 28 days. Watch Cub stops new streaming lookups at 900 per month to leave room within the free 1,000-request plan. Cached searches and saved picks continue to work. Your services shows the remaining lookup budget.

Catalog sources

Streaming availability metadata and images are provided by Streaming Availability API by Movie of the Night. Posters and service names identify their respective shows and providers; they remain the property of their rights holders.

Video search uses YouTube API Services. Google’s privacy policy applies to Google services. Watch Cub refreshes saved YouTube titles and images when a parent returns, or removes that API metadata before 30 days. Approved links remain in your library.

Guarded

No real provider currently earns this label. A browser guard must first pass provider-specific tests.

A separate Chrome profile

Use a separate Chrome profile for your child's shelf. Connect it with a code from the parent console. Keep parent email and browser profiles separate. The shelf is not a device lock.

What we store

Your parent email, child nicknames and chosen symbols, your selected services and country, shelf schedules, the links, artwork and titles you add, approvals, connected computers, and minimal opened/ended/returned events. Recent activity covers 30 days and older events are pruned during playback. No streaming passwords, child accounts, advertising, or behavioral analytics are collected by Watch Cub.
